MARION HUNGRY MOTHERS PLAN END-OF-SEASON GAME CELEBRATING SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA
MARION, Va – The Marion Hungry Mothers baseball team plans an end-of-season game that celebrates southwest Virginia, with appearances from the recently crowned Miss Virginia and Emory and Henry alumni for their July 26 game against the Davie Crocketts.
The season is coming to an end for the collegiate wood-bat team on Sunday, July 26. To end the season on a high note, the team will celebrate being a part of the region they call home. They will have alumni from Emory and Henry University, one of the region’s top colleges, in attendance and Miss Virginia, Maddie Marchant, who is the second in thirty years from the region to be crowned with the prestigious title.
“We are excited that we are able to make this happen,” says the team’s general manager, Kelsey Marchant. “From baseball to education to Miss Virginia herself, I think this is a great way to showcase what this region has to offer and to celebrate the place we all call home.”
Miss Virginia is Lebanon native, Maddie Marchant, who was crowned on June 27. Her platform is “InvisAbility,” a community service initiative ensuring that those with different abilities are seen, heard, valued, and respected. The game also happens to fall on National Disability Independance Day, which allows her to bring more awareness to her platform at this game.
Emory and Henry University is the region’s oldest university. Their main campus is located in Emory, with a satellite campus located not far from the ballfield in Marion. The school has been an active part of the Marion community since the establishment of their satellite campus.
For the last game of the season, the Hungry Mothers will take on the Davie Crocketts at 5:00, with gates opening at 4:00. Tickets are available online at hungrymothersbaseball.com and at the gate.
