Hungry Mothers tab Marion native to serve as team's first general manager
Marion, Va. – The Marion Hungry Mothers are excited to announce the hiring of Marion native Kelsey Marchant as general manager of the new summer collegiate baseball club for their upcoming inaugural season.
Marchant is no stranger to sports in Southwest Virginia. In 2023, she began working with the Blue Ridge Bobcats, the professional ice hockey team in nearby Wytheville. She currently works as a camera operator for the team and is actively involved with its booster club. With this year’s hockey season coming to a close, Marchant will soon diversify her sports industry experience in her new role with the Hungry Mothers.
“I’m beyond excited for this opportunity,” Marchant said. “It’s a great feeling to see baseball back in Marion and I can play a role in the inaugural season.
"Having a local team, whether it’s baseball or hockey, is so impactful to the community. It provides fun and entertainment to locals, and I’ve seen it build new friendships and camaraderie amongst fans. Plus, it’s exciting to see the start of these young athletes’ careers and where they could end up.”
Marchant was raised in Marion and is a 2014 graduate from Marion Senior High School – whose stadium will be the home to the Hungry Mothers this summer. She is also a double alumna of Radford University, earning her Master’s in Strategic Communication in 2019.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Kelsey Marchant into this leadership position with our ballclub,” said Hungry Mothers managing partner Terry Hindle. “She’s going to bring her sports passion and love for the Marion community to the role every day and we’re very excited about her energy and ideas for the team as we bring summer baseball back to town this summer.”
The Hungry Mothers’ home opener for their inaugural season is May 26. For more information on the Hungry Mothers or to purchase season tickets, visit hungrymothersbaseball.com. Fans can also pick up merchandise online ahead of the season at the team’s website.
